Today's talk was great!! I really enjoyed it!! The brother was a native speaker from Istapalapa Inglés, but spoke English very well! He used a few nice visible illustrations and a lot of gestures. My friend Anita, who has been here for a little over 2 months from Cancun and came straight into the English congregation without knowing a speck of English, said the talk was good, clear and understandable so much that even she understood it. Hehe.
One of the illustrations the brother used concerning the body of elders was the following: Our body of elders are like a good salsa!! There are 3 main ingredients to a great salsa: tomatoes, onions, and chiles. Brother Tomato is tender, very helpful, nice and sweet. Brother Onion is nice, always willing to help, but might make us cry. Brother Chile always helps but at times might be a bit irritating. None the less, all three are needed to make a good salsa!!
So true, right? Well, I must admit my (former?) congregation back home, North Cicero Spanish, is composed of 3 tomatoes, making a GREAT tomato sauce for an awesome pizza!! (Mmm..pizza..oh how I miss you..) I provided a couple pictures of some New York style pizza. My mouth waters..
Well back to salsa, I just simply loved that illustration!
